Procedures For Entry Permit in Leuser Ecosystem Area - Aceh Region (SIMKOKELWA)
- Applicants must submit formal request for Entry Permit in Leuser Ecosystem Area – Aceh Region on his/her own behalf, addressed to the Head of BPKEL Aceh (Leuser Ecosystem Management Authority), no later than one (1) week prior to activities.
- For visitors intended to conduct a brief observation, he/she must submit the research proposal, or the activity Term of Reference (ToR).
- Submit a photocopy of valid passport.
- For researchers, he/she must submit recommendation from his/her institution.
- For foreign researchers, he/she must submit a photocopy of recommendation/ permit issued by State Ministry of Research and Technology of Indonesia.
- Submit latest photos sized 3 x 4 cm (2 pcs) and a stamp.
- All researcher’s guests who intended to enter the research station must submit the formal request for Entry Permit in Leuser Ecosystem Area – Aceh Region (SIMKOKELWA) issued by BPKEL, and allowed only for one (1) day visit. The formal request must be submitted on his/her own behalf and no later than one (1) week prior the visit. Especially for research station in Ketambe, guests are not allowed to stay overnight in the station.
- The Entry Permit (SIMKOKELWA) must be signed by the applicants at the office of BPKEL.
- There will be no charge for administration or other fees.
- Copies of The Entry Permit (SIMKOKELWA) will be submitted directly by the applicant to respective institutions.
- The Entry Permit will be valid for 6 (six) months. All permit holders who need to conduct activities for more than six (6) months must apply for Entry Permit Extension. Recommendation from the Research Station’s Manager and progress report of his/her research must be attached to the permit extension application.
- The Entry Permit (SIMKOKELWA) which had been issued by BPKEL can be revoked /reviewed if there is violation of rules and procedures by permit holders in the research stations.
